Plant Sale Seeds Sown

Grassroots Garden Group members gathered at the Old Schoolhouse Community Garden on Monday, March 15th to sow seeds for our annual plant sale benefiting the Westchester Food Pantry. Snow and wind outside made GGG members grateful for the use of the schoolhouse, which kept all warm and allowed ample space for social distancing.

We sowed over 40 varieties of plants, including tomatoes, beans, watermelon, beets, marigolds, and more. By Saturday, seeds were already sprouting. An auspicious start to our 2021 gardening season!

The plant sale will be held Saturday, May 15th, from 9am-12pm. It will take place at the gazebo on the corner of Mannheim and Cermak. You can RSVP on our events page to add the sale to your calendar, or follow our Facebook and Instagram pages for reminders and additional content.

The sale will be first come, first served. We will be accepting cash, checks, and Venmo payments. Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Westchester Food Pantry, to fund their efforts to feed our neighbors in need.
