About the event

Guest speaker Heather Prince has been a part of the green industry for more than 20 years, including experience at The Morton Arboretum, Chicago Botanic Garden, The Growing Place, Wannemaker’s Home & Garden, the American Horticultural Society and The Garden of Words. She is a trained horticulturist specializing in trees, shrubs, and natives with a passion for connecting people with plants.

Currently she is the email marketing manager for The Garden of Words as well as a staff writer for The Landscape Contractor, the magazine of the Illinois Landscape Contractors Association. Her freelance writing has included Chicagoland Gardening magazine, and numerous newspaper articles, blog posts, magazines, newsletters, and more. Heather also relishes sharing her knowledge and experience by teaching at The Morton Arboretum, Chicago Botanic Garden, Olbrich Botanical Gardens, and Edith Farnsworth House as well as garden clubs, groups, and industry gatherings."

The program we have chosen for her to present is: "Native Plants for Small Gardens." Explore a curated list of native plants that can enliven the home garden without growing out of bounds. We will examine plants for all types of sites from shady to sunny; wet to dry. Discover how to layer in natives to attract pollinators and birds, plus give you seasons of color and pleasure.
